We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Financial Services team as Accounts Payable Officer in a Permanent Full-Time capacity.

This position is based in Colac.

As the Accounts Payable Officer you will:

  • Provide professional and consultative Accounts Payable and Purchasing support to all area of Council to assist them in achieving their business objectives, ensuring appropriate level of fraud control in Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Accounts Payable systems and processes within Council.
  • Ensure efficient administration of Council’s Accounts Payable function in accordance with regulations, policy and procedure applicable at the time.
  • Provide general support in all areas of the financial services unit.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure efficient and accurate processing of Council’s creditor accounts for payment in accordance with set standard policy and procedure.
  • Provide support to assist Council staff to understand the requirements of the Accounts Payable processes, required to meet financial reporting requirements and ensure effective internal control.
  • Process invoices and credit notes promptly.
  • Promote Council’s policy of Excellence in Customer Service. Identify, review, recommend to the Coordinator Management Accounting and implement strategics to improve service quality.

 

About You:

To support your success in this role you will have:

  • The ability to efficiently process invoices for payment within establishment timeframes.
  • Ability to proactively contribute to the adherence to Council processes, and the prevention and detection of financial fraud.
  • Ability to oversee, manage and maintain Accounts Payable systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of corporate finance system databases and Microsoft applications.
  • Proven ability to apply standard procedures, practices, Acts and Regulations applicable to Accounts Payable.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to train others in Accounts Payable systems and processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
  • Highly developed customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence is essential.

Salary information: $72,597.20 to $82,571.32 per annum plus superannuation
