We are seeking a helpful and friendly individual to join our Information Services team as Information Technology Officer - Service Desk in a Temporary Part-Time, Fixed Term capacity until 26 May 2026 (2 days per week).
As the Information Technology Officer - Service Desk you will:
- Provide assistance as first line support for the Colac Otway Shire Council information and telecommunication systems to ensure they meet organisational and client requirements.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of application software systems, updates and patches that support Colac Otway Shire Council’s business processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with helpdesk requests, specifically relating to the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) level 1 and 2 support activities to ensure all internal requests for support and services are handled with appropriate urgency and in accordance with agreed timeframes.
- Assisting internal staff to ensure they have the knowledge and confidence to utilise systems.
- Assisting in maintaining system software and hardware.
- Assisting in the development and review of standard guidelines and user operating and technical support procedures for information systems.
- Assisting with procurement of hardware and consumables.
- Assisting with equipment and software inventory.
- Supporting installation of application software systems and relevant upgrades and conduct appropriate testing to ensure that software is operating within specification.
- Supporting the maintenance and software of training and loan hardware.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities reasonably within the capabilities of the position.
About You:
To support your success in this role you will have:
- Understanding of the requirements of providing first line helpdesk and technical IT support.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of some or all of the following:
- Desktop PC, Laptop and tablet technologies
- Computer operating systems
- Mobile technologies
- Voice over IP (VOIP) telephone systems,
- Terminal Services, Citrix or other Virtualisation technologies,
- Virus protection systems
- Printing services
- Windows profiles
- Understanding of the requirements to support software applications.
- Ability to assist with the installation of software upgrades and to undertake satisfactory testing procedures.
- Team orientated with sound communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to learn.
- Customer focused.

Salary information: $34.02 to $35.84 per hour, plus superannuation
