We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our Financial Services leadership team as Coordinator Management Accounting in a Permanent Full-Time capacity.

As the Coordinator Management Accounting the objectives are:

To provide financial leadership and expertise to:

  • Maintain and enhance accounting systems, ensuring all maintenance, changes and upgrades are implemented in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Facilitate the development of the Annual Budget and Quarterly Budget review processes in a timely manner.
  • Develop and improve long term financial planning systems and processes that enhance Council’s understanding of financial risks and Council’s ongoing financial sustainability.
  • Oversee the integration of asset registers and systems into Council’s existing financial systems, ensuring ongoing maintenance and enhancement to meet reporting requirements.
  • Foster a culture of customer service, continuous improvement and best practice outcomes.
  • Maintain Council’s fraud and corruption framework, enabling Council to effectively manage and mitigate risks.

Support the Manager Financial Services in creating and sustaining a dynamic Finance team that:

  • Safeguards the financial integrity of Council.
  • Excels in the delivery of our customers’ service expectations.
  • Provides financial support and advice to Council’s Business Units, developing relationships and assisting the achievement of desired financial outcomes.

About You:

To support your success in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in an accounting or a related business discipline, along with Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)/Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) or equivalent membership.
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated financial and/or management accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a business unit and proven supervisory experience gained within a multi-disciplinary function, including the ability to develop and motivate staff, provide expert advice, establish and monitor outcomes and establish documented procedures and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop written reports (financial and non-financial) and transfer accounting and financial knowledge to non-accounting managers, team leaders and staff.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the development, analysis, monitoring and reporting of budgets, forecasts, complex financial models and annual financial statements.
  • Demonstrated business analytical skills, including extraction, validation and analysis of complex data from financial databases to solve data integrity and internal control issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Asset accounting, including knowledge of relevant legislation, and accounting standards in a Local Government context (Desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience in systems accounting, including financial reporting system design and implementation of enhancements in consultation with users.
  • Demonstrated experience in an accounting role with the ability to practically apply your extensive knowledge of the relevant legislation, standards and guidelines, preferably with local government exposure.
  • Demonstrated time management skills including the ability to use initiative and judgement to achieve outcomes for the management accounting unit and coordinate activities to achieve organisational objectives.

Salary information: $111,104.76 to $124,013.76 per annum plus superannuation
