Senior Statutory Planner

We are looking for a qualified professional to join our Planning and Building team as a Senior Statutory Planner in a permanent part-time role, working two days per week. Flexible work arrangements, including the option to work from home, are available for the successful candidate.

This position is based in Colac.

As Senior Statutory Planner you will:

  • Implement and administer statutory planning responsibilities pursuant to the Planning and Environment Act, Colac Otway Planning Scheme, Subdivision Act and any other relevant government legislation, with an emphasis on assessment of the more complex planning issues.
  • Provide senior guidance and input into planning matters as part of the process of development assessment.
  • Play a leadership role in identifying opportunities for improvement in the Department’s work practices and procedures which maximise the quality of decisions and efficiency of the decision making process.
  • Provide professional input into the development of strategic planning policies and amendments to the Planning Scheme.

About You:

To support your success in this role you will have:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Planning or closely related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a planning role including representation at VCAT.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing medium to large scale applications.
  • Strong outcome and solution focus. 
  • Demonstrated experience in innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated mentoring skills and leadership.
  • Well developed customer service ethic.
  • Highly effective time management and prioritisation skills.

Salary information: $96,918.12 to $107,051.36 per annum pro rata plus superannuation
