We are seeking a motivated team player to join our Services & Operations Department in the Temporary Full-Time, Fixed Term 12 month position of Building Maintenance Trades Person.

This position is based at the Colac depot.
As the Building Maintenance Trades Person the objectives are:
- To implement a planned maintenance schedule for Council Building & Property assets.
- To deliver reactive building maintenance and to deliver minor capital works.
- To deliver quality and timely customer service to internal and external customers.
- Ensure assets under Council control are maintained to an acceptable standard and level of service.
- To deliver works from inspections and audits
- To assist with the Asset Management Plan delivery of identified actions.
- To deliver maintenance works to Australian standards.
- To efficiently assist in the maintenance activities such as essential safety measures, security & key systems and mechanical services including air conditioning and HVAC systems.
- To alternate in the after-hours on call for buildings and facilities with the Building Maintenance Team Leader.
Key responsibilities include:
- Respond to requests for reactive building and facility maintenance.
- Should repairs be required arrange for asset sites to be made safe i.e. isolated until more permanent repairs can be applied.
- Apply maintenance work to damaged property as required using existing skill sets and tools.
- Read and record daily rain gauge levels, forwarding necessary data to the Bureau of Meteorology once per month.
- To assist with any other reasonable tasks that may be required.
About You:
To support your success in this role you will have:
- A demonstrated knowledge of safety within the building and construction industries.
- A relevant trade qualification to support general facility maintenance activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in facilities management, commercial building maintenance, repair & construction techniques or similar.
- Demonstrates an ability to learn new software systems (Authority, key system, HVAC system etc.).
- Demonstrates an ability to work independently and priorities to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to relate well to contractors, internal and external customers at all levels.
- Current Drivers licence and Construction Industry White Card is essential.

Salary information: $72,597.20 to $82,571.32 per annum pro rata including industry allowance plus superannuation.
