About the Role
The Manager Planning and Building is a pivotal role within the Colac Otway Shire Council, responsible for leading strategic land use planning and development across the Shire. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the Colac Otway Shire’s Planning Scheme is administered efficiently, while balancing development opportunities, environmental management principles, and the long-term vision of the Shire. Reporting to the General Manager Community and Economy, the Manager will oversee strategic and statutory planning, building services, and compliance functions within Council’s planning framework.
The role will be integral in shaping the future of Colac through initiatives like the Colac 2050 Growth Plan and the Deans Creek Precinct Structure Plan, ensuring sustainable development that supports the Shire’s vision for growth and community wellbeing.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a highly skilled leader with experience in strategic land use planning, statutory planning, and building services within a local government setting. The successful candidate will bring expertise in managing planning frameworks and compliance, along with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policy. You will also have a proven track record of leading teams, fostering collaboration, and driving sustainable land use outcomes.
